Enter Events
Only users who are assigned to a Role with Herd Write permissions can use this feature. If your account only has Herd Read permissions, you will not be able to use this feature. See Edit Dairy User Permissions and Manage Dairy Roles for more information.
PULSE allows you to create events, add animals to them, and process your changes—all from the mobile app while you are out on the dairy. Add events to one or more animals, either by searching for them manually or using RFID ScannersRFID Scanners (v2). When you finish adding animals to an event, tap 
Process All Changes to send your updates back to PULSE (WiFi or data connection required).

- Tap Events
and select the event you need to add.
- If you are using a scanner, scan an animal to add it to the event. If not, tap the Add Animals button to find the animal.
- The required event details vary based on event type. The app validates the event details you enter and warns you if there is a potential data entry error. If appropriate, you can dismiss the error and continue.
- Use the REM field to provide additional details for the event, such as affected quarters, protocol details, or notes from your vet. Some events may also allow you to select a remark from a pick list. See Edit Event Definitions for more information.
The length of the remark field may be 16 or 8 characters, depending on your dairy type/item table configuration. MyDC dairies support 16-character remarks. DCU dairies can support 16-character remarks if they have adequate item table storage space. If a DCU dairy has limited item table storage space, it can only support 8-character remarks. Follow the guidelines below and learn how quarter/quadrant selection works for specific events:
- MAST and LAME events:
- 16-character REM: Choose 1, 2, 3, or all quarters/quadrants for MAST and LAME events.
- 8-character REM: Choose 1 or all quarters/quadrants for MAST and LAME events.
- CULTURE events: Choose either 1 or all quarters to follow best practices for this event type, irrespective of the REM field length.
The event date defaults to today, so if you’re adding events for previous days, be sure to adjust the date.
- If you are adding an event with similar details to multiple animals, you can copy event details to speed up event entry. See Copy Event Details to Multiple AnimalsCopy Event Details to Multiple Animals for more info.
- As animals are added to an event, each animal is assigned a number with a gray background
until all required details are added. Then the animal number background turns blue and includes a check 
to show that the animal is ready to process.
- You can edit animal events until you tap the Process All Changes button.
- Tap the Delete button
to delete the event.

To speed up entering an event with similar details to multiple animals, you can copy event details. Follow the steps below to continue:
- Enter an event for the first animal. That activates the settings button
at the top right of the screen.
- Tap the settings button and check which fields to copy to additional animals. Select Apply and Copy.
- Scan animals or tap Add Animals to add the event with the copied details to additional animals.
- If you need to adjust event details for an animal, tap the animal and make necessary edits. Manually-entered data overrides copied details.
- When you're done, tap the back arrow and then the
Process All Changesbutton.
- When you're done adding all animal events and required details, tap the back arrow and then the
Process All Changesbutton. The total number of animals with events is shown below the button.
- For MyDC dairies, the app sends the events to PULSE as soon as your mobile connection is active, and the events are immediately added to the animal CowCards. For DairyComp Unlimited dairies, you may see a slight delay as the latest care package is pulled down to PULSE and DairyComp (for DCU dairies).
